Armed robbery of newsagent: Duke Street, Glasgow

Strathclyde Police is appealing for information following a robbery at the Odds n Ends Newsagents,1350 Duke Street in Glasgow, yesterday 20 December 2008.

About 1710 last night, a male entered the premises in Duke Street armed with a knife and threatened a male member of staff before stealing a four figure sum of cash from the till.

The robber then ran off towards Parkhead Hospital.

The male member of staff was not injured, although has been left badly shaken as a result.

The suspect is described as:

  • white
  • approx 5'2 in height
  • medium build
  • a chubby face
  • wearing a white hooded top
  • and dark coloured jeans.

Detective Constable Stuart Stevenson from London Road CID is leading the enquiry. He said:

"We know that the suspect was hanging around outside the Odds N Ends newsagents for around 5 to 10 minutes prior to the robbery.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the Duke Street area around the time of the incident and might have seen the robber either hanging around or making off afterwards to contact me.

"We are currently viewing CCTV footage and are making every effort to trace the individual responsible."
