A MULTI-FUNCTION SECURITY TOOLKIT

The Missing List is designed to enhance the chances of anyone getting back anything that has been lost or stolen. Think of it as an incredibly compact multi-function security toolkit.

At the core of the Missing List is a powerful and versatile database which can be used either as a search tool or a platform from which to publish appeals for information in over 50 categories. And if you have found something, or have information to pass on, or want to claim a reward the system facilitates that too.
About the Missing List

For the proactive (sensible) amongst us the Missing List can be used to record the ownership and identification information of important assets (on the basis that, should the worst happen, it pays to be prepared).

CRIME

WANTED (FUGITIVES)
Criminals hit the missing list all the time. Many fugitives are dangerous and the sooner that they are apprehended the better we'll all sleep. And, let's not forget, rewards for information can be spectacular.
Wanted People on the Missing List
Second Hand on the Missing List
POLICE APPEALS
Crimes go unsolved. Police forces around the globe are desperate for contributions from the general public. Here's your chance to make a difference (as well as the possibility of a significant contribution to your pension fund).
CELEBRITY CRIME
Being a well known doesn’t mean that you are immune from crime; in fact it usually increases vulnerability. The Missing List has a section specifically reporting on Celebrity Crime - from missing pets to 'highly personal' videos.

Ongoing Rewards on the Missing List
ONGOING REWARDS
Most local authorities operate a reward policy aimed at combating such unacceptable behaviour - such as Graffiti, fly-tipping and vandalism. Commercial organisations also offer rewards for reporting breaches of the law that impact their business.-
INTELLIGENCE REPORT
If you have information about a crime for which there is not yet a police appeal, or if you have intelligence about a crime or criminal activity that has yet to come to light, you can communicate it via us..

Noticeboard
NOTICEBOARD
If there is something relating to public safety that you think other people should know you can use this form to post a notice that will appear in the Missing List local search facility. If what you know relates to actual or suspected criminal activity you should contact your local police.

POSSESSIONS

GENERAL VALUABLES
Our precious possessions go missing - it happens, it's a fact of life. They get lost, they get stolen. Common denominator (?) you want them back. Insurance can't cover sentimental value. When all else fails, offering a reward may get results.
Valuables on the Missing List
Electronics on the Missing List
ELECTRONICS
This category covers all electronic consumer products of which mobile devices & phones are by far the most vulnerable and frequently lost or stolen. Laptops, mobile phones and iPods have become the stars of this relatively new crime wave, with students and teenagers particularly badly affected.

JEWELLERY
Jewellery is a very popular with criminals because after they've melted down your treasured memories there's little left to incriminate them. With burglary at epidemic proportions, and our over-stretched police forces battling to keep pace, you'll have to be extraordinarily lucky to see your jewellery returned through conventional channels.

Watches on the Missing List
WATCHES
Watches don't have to be new to be desirable - vintage examples by quality watchmakers such as Patek Philippe can command sums well into six figures! High value, small form factor and an increasingly desirable status symbol; watches are a thieves dream commodity.
FINE ART
Art theft joins drugs, money laundering and illegal arms trading as one of the largest criminal activities in the world. An increasing trend of brazen thefts sees paintings stolen not just for profit but also as a type of trophy robbery to impress others. and as a bargaining chip between crime syndicates.

Musical Instruments on the Missing List
MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
More than 1.2 million musical instruments worth over £98 million are sold each year in the UK. Of these it is estimated that over half will be lost or stolen within the first five years of purchase. And that doesn’t take into account all those precious instruments that can be decades, even centuries old.
WINE
Even discounting the excise duty, wine can be extremely valuable. From burgled collections of high value premier cru vintages to hijacked tankers of plonk, where there is value there is a powerful incentive for thieves.

Vehicles on the Missing List
CARS
Motor manufacturers are now incorporating high-tech security as standard and this is altering the pattern of vehicle crime. Older cars are at increasing risk as are high value vehicles where increasingly sophisticated thieves have learned to circumvent new security measures.

OTHER VEHICLES
The vehicles category covers all forms of road transport (two, four, and more wheels) as well as specialised as 'off-highway' vehicles designed for construction and agricultural purposes -   pedal bikes, motorcycles, commercial/haulage vehicles, equine transporters, caravans/motor homes, off-highway plant.
Plant on the Missing List
Tools & Equipment on the Missing List
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
Construction sites are easy targets for thieves. Constant staff turnover means it is difficult to keep good security records - and the high value of plant and equipment can lead to quick and easy profit for successful thieves.
LEISURE MARINE
You have to be an enthusiast to understand the incredibly close relationship that can be forged between man (/woman) and boat...she enhanced your life in fair weather and kept you safe in foul. Now she has gone. And you want to do something about it!
Leisure Marine Vessels on the Missing List
Merchant Marine on the Missing List
MERCHANT MARINE
The high seas are a law enforcement nightmare, what with uncertain jurisdictions, flags of convenience, and just sheer physical distance. Merchant marine assets can (and regularly do) just disappear off the face of the earth and extraordinarily large sums of money can be at stake.

PEOPLE

MISSING PEOPLE
When a loved one or friend hits the missing list it can be for any number of reasons. You need the comfort of knowing that they are safe and, at best, you want them to get in touch. We work closely with Missing People (formerly National Missing Persons Helpline) the UK's only charity that works with young runaways, missing and unidentified people, their families and others who care for them.

Tracing People on the Missing List
TRACING PEOPLE
Your great aunt has sadly passed on. Her lawyers are searching for her only living relative. If they don't locate you soon a cat's home will be substantially better off. "Dream on" you say...but it happens. Check out the notices section of your local paper and you'll see what we mean!

ANIMALS
CRUELTY/WILDLIFE
Headlines from across the UK would seem to be supporting the shocking view that animal cruelty is on the increase in the UK. In this category you can post appeals information (with or without a reward) leading to the apprehension the culprits.
Wildlife on the Missing List
Pets & Zoo Animals on the Missing List
PETS/ZOO ANIMALS
This section deals with domestic pets other than cats, dogs and horses which have a category of their own (see main menu) and zoo animals. Here you can search for, and post appeals for, anything from a lost hamster to a hijacked penguin.
FARM LIVESTOCK
Unfortunately rustling is not a thing of the past. This section deals with lost or stolen farm animals of all species, all breeds and all values; cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, poultry, even 'diversity' livestock such as llamas and water buffalo.
Farm Livestock on the Missing List
Horses on the Missing List
HORSES
We train them to be people-friendly and to come to us when we call them. But a horse that is comfortable around people is also vulnerable. Horses can represent a significant investment and the equine world is notorious for individuals who baulk at nothing to make a profit.
DOGS
Pedigree dogs can be very valuable. You can take precautions, micro-chipping for instance, but if the commercial incentive is there, and statistics demonstrate that there it is, the professional thief will view this as little more than an inconvenience. The best deterrent is constant vigilance.
Dogs on the Missing List
Cats on the Missing List
CATS
Pure breed cats can be very valuable. But valuable or not, show winner or moggie we love them and when they go missing it breaks our hearts...it is a cat's natural inclination (some would say prerogative) to roam; and this makes them vulnerable.
