Pedigree dogs can be very valuable and we may think of them as a member of our family but to thieves they're just another opportunity to make a dishonest profit. You can take elaborate security measures but you can't live your life under siege. If the commercial incentive is there the criminal will view your precautions as little more than an inconvenience. |

The best we can do is to make it tough for the thief to profitably dispose of the animal. Micro-chipping, by establishing the true identity and ownership of an animal, is a powerful tool in combating these heartless crimes and returning lost animals to their rightful owners. The good will of the general public should not be underestimated so post an appeal on the Missing List and put all those eyes and ears to work. |
