Police are appealing for information after a moped was stolen in Borehamwood last week (Monday, May 30).

The offender, a white teenage boy, stopped the rider of the moped, a 17-year-old from Borehamwood, in Manor Way at 4.15pm.

He convinced the rider to allow him to have a go on the moped.

He then rode off with the bike and did not return.

The bike is described as a black Yamaha.

PC Paul Francis is investigating and said:

"The owner is distraught at having lost his bike as he had only recently purchased the moped and saved for a long time to buy it.

"I would urge anyone who saw the incident take place or has seen the moped since the date of the offence to contact me.

"It may be being hidden locally or may have been transported out of the town by other means."

Anyone with information can contact police on 0845 33 00 222.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
