The thieves stole it from a farmyard after removing a roadside gate in Clattercut Lane and driving across a field some time between 4pm on Tuesday, December 8 and 3pm yesterday (Wednesday, December 9).

The yellow, Yale forklift truck was worth around £850.

PC Nic Locock said:

"The thieves must have used lifting gear to load it on to a large truck or lorry and as this happened off a fairly quiet lane anyone who was either walking or driving there at the time is likely to have noticed a vehicle like that.

"We want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who in retrospect saw anything which they feel could help our investigation."

Witnesses or anyone with information should call PC Locock on 0300 333 3000, quoting incident reference 540-S-091209.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
