Police are appealing for information after dozens of fish were stolen from a pond in Medstead sometime between Tuesday, June 1 and Tuesday, June 8.

Sometime between the two dates around 70 fish including several large Koi Carp were stolen from a garden pond at an address in Abbey Road.

The fish are believed to be worth several thousands of pounds.

PC Nick Whitehouse, of the Alton Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said:

"This was an unusual theft and it would have taken the offenders some time to catch the fish.

"They would also have had to use substantial fish nets to land them.

"The thieves would have been at the address for some time and we would ask anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Abbey Road area to contact us as soon as possible.

"We would also ask anyone who is approached by someone trying to sell large Koi Carp to contact us immediately."

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Whitehouse at Alton police station on 0845 045 4545 or 101.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111
