Police are appealing for witnesses following a complaint from a resident in the area of Well Road, Lochgelly that her cat had been shot and injured.

The owner of the one year old black cat noticed an injury to the animals back and a subsequent visit to the vet confirmed that it had been shot with a pellet.

Chief Inspector Ross Bennet said,

"We are keen to speak to any person who may be able to assist us trace the person responsible.

"The owner became aware of the injury to the cat on Friday 2nd April and is obviously shocked that any person would stoop so low as to target a harmless pet.

"We are committed to ensuring safer neighbourhoods in accordance with our Policing Plan commitment and we need to trace the air weapon used."

If you are able to assist us please contact us on 0845 600 5702.
