Birds and electrical equipment stolen from Doctor Pit allotments: Bedlington

Police are appealing for witnesses after birds and electrical equipment were stolen from allotments in Bedlington.

The incidents happened in the Doctor Pit allotments, Park Road, between 1pm Tuesday March 30 and 9.45am on Wednesday March 31.

Amongst the items stolen from the four allotments was a generator, drill, strimmer and pigeon baskets.

Four hens were stolen along with 30 pigeons - 12 fancy pigeons and 20 tumbler pigeons.

Investigating officer PC Steven McCourt said:

"I'd appeal for anyone with any information into these break-ins or any information as to the whereabouts of the stolen birds to contact police.

"If you have a garden shed or allotment then make sure you secure it - ensure all valuables are stored somewhere safe and that they are not left on show."

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, was in the area at the time or knows the whereabouts of the birds is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 03456 043 043.
