Police are appealing for witnesses following the theft of a green Land Rover Defender and attached Ifor Williams cattle trailer.

The incident happened sometime between 9.30am and 1.25pm on Tuesday, February 23, whilst the car and trailer were parked in the cattle market car park in Scalford Road, Melton Mowbray.

The Land Rover's registration is FH52 MRU.

PC Paul Anderson, the officer investigating the incident, said

"The theft of the car and trailer has been a major inconvenience for the owners, and we are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

"It was market day on Tuesday in Melton, so there was lots of comings and goings in the car park and surrounding area.

"Think back, were you in the cattle market car park on Tuesday and remember seeing someone acting suspiciously?

"Or maybe you've been offered the car or trailer for sale. Any information you have, could help our investigation."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 1921 Paul Anderson on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 1921.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
