Mobility scooter stolen from outside newsagents: Victoria Road East, Hebburn

Information is being sought after a mobility scooter was stolen in Hebburn.

The incident happened between 3.30pm and 3.35pm, on Monday, January 18.

The 47-year-old victim left the scooter outside a newsagents on Victoria Road East.

However, when he came outside the shop just five minutes later, the scooter had been stolen.

Detective Inspector Chris Sybenga, from South Tyneside Area Command, said:

"This is a heartless and despicable theft and has left the victim without the scooter which he relies on to go about his daily business.

"The theft happened at a time when many people would have been in the area and I'd urge anyone who has information on this theft or knows of the scooter's whereabouts to come forward.

"Also, anyone who is offered such an item for sale should contact police."
