Police appeal for information after puppy stolen in burglary: Egham

Police in Runnymede are appealing for witnesses and information after a puppy was stolen from an address in Egham last week.

The incident took place between 10pm and 10.26pm on Saturday 1 May at an address in Thorpe Lea Road.

The black and brown Rottweiler puppy, which is around eight weeks old and is called Ace, was taken when the suspects forced open a wooden door to the garden where the puppy was being kept.

The owner of the puppy is also offering a reward for anyone providing information which leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the burglary.

Following the incident Scene of Crime officers (SOCO) attended the location and seized a number of items for forensic examination.

Police Constable Michelle Carnie, the Neighbourhood Specialist Officer for Thorpe and Hythe said:

"This was an unusual burglary where heartless thieves have stolen a much loved and valuable family pet.

"The dog was a pedigree breed and no other items were taken during the incident which would suggest this was a calculated and planned offence rather than a more opportunistic crime.

"We are in the process of reviewing local CCTV footage and the Safer Neighbourhood Team have visited the victim to provide reassurance and security advice.

"Ace is distinctive as he does not have a tail and this is something people would be likely to notice and remember.

"I would also like to hear from anyone who has been approached about purchasing a pedigree dog second hand in the local area.

"This was obviously a very upsetting incident for the victims and I would urge anyone with any information which can help us return Ace to his rightful owners to contact Surrey Police immediately."

Anyone who witnessed the incident or with any further information should call Surrey Police on0845 125 2222.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
