Grampian Police are investigating after a black cat was shot with an air gun in Peterhead.

The incident happened in the Clerkhill area of Peterhead, possibily near to Pitfour Court between 5pm on Sunday 16 May 2010 and 5pm on Monday 17 May 2010.

The cat, named Daisy, required treatment from a local vet.

Investigating officer Kevin Forman said:

"We take a very serious view of anyone who targets an animal with an airgun.

This is appears to have been a deliberate act of cruelty and it will not be tolerated by Grampian Police."
