A llama has been stolen from a farm at Llanio, near Tregaron, on Monday 23 February.
The male, named Domino, is black and white in colour.
Farm owner Peter Bourne, who keeps a herd of up to 80 of the animals, which are native to South America, said that the animal was worth £750 to £1,000.
"It's a stud male and the colouring is quite unusual, particularly the amount of black. It just disappeared from the field. In Britain as a whole, a number of llamas have been stolen.
"I don't want to malign the people of the home counties, but I've heard that some come to rural areas which have llamas and then take them back to the south-east, where they fetch a better price."
Witnesses or anyone with information relating to this theft should contact Dyfed-Powys Police on 0845 330 2000.
Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
