POLICE are appealing for witnesses and information following four incidents where cars were damaged in Bushey between Saturday October 11 and Sunday October 12.

The first happened on Prowse Avenue where one or more offenders have smashed the nearside front window. Once inside, they have searched the car but not taken anything and then made off in an unknown direction. It happened between 7pm on 11 October and 6.45am on 12 October. The vehicle was a red Skoda Felicia.

The second happened on Thorn Avenue when one or more offenders smashed the driver's window, leaned through and released the handbrake. The car rolled down the hill and was left in the middle of the road as the offenders made off in an unknown direction. It happened between 11pm on October 11 and 7am on October 12. The car was a red Vauxhall Cavalier.

The third happened between 3am and 8.45am on Hartsbourne Road when one or more offenders have smashed the front nearside window of a black Hyundai hatchback. They then released the handbrake and the vehicle rolled backwards down a hill and took out a road sign.

The fourth happened on Prowse Avenue where one or more offenders have smashed the nearside front window and searched the vehicle. They did not take anything, but released the handbrake and rolled the vehicle into a lamppost before making off in an unknown direction. The vehicle was a black Renault Clio. It happened between 4am and 7.10am on October 12.

PC Gerard Handscombe, investigating, said: "These are mindless acts of vandalism where nothing was taken and in some cases cars have been deliberately rolled down hills. We are linking them and asking anyone who saw people acting suspiciously in the area during this time or has any information, to get in touch. Their information could be vital in helping us track down those responsible."

Anyone with any information on this crime should ring PC Handscombe via the non-emergency number 0845 33 00 222. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
