Police have put out an appeal for witnesses after livestock were slaughtered at a small holding in the Crewkerne area. The suspects forced their way into the small holding in Tail Mill Lane overnight between November 4-5.
A quantity of livestock at the premises were then attacked including geese and other birds. It is believed they were beaten with a metal pole and some had their throats cut. Police believe that the suspects may have broken into the property to steal plant or farm machinery and when they failed to discover any may have taken their frustration out on the birds.
The owners of the small holding have been left upset and are appealing for members of the public to help the police find the offenders. There is no description of the culprits but a red Ford Escort has been seen in the area. When it was approached the vehicle left.
Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area who may have seen any vehicles acting suspiciously.
