Cannabis worth more than £150,000 has been discovered at a house in Nottingham, after police were called to reports of a burglary.

Officers found the substantial grow when they entered a property in Claude Street, Dunkirk, at around 11.50pm, Tuesday April 27.

Nobody was in the house at the time, however police discovered around 300 cannabis plants, along with specialist growing equipment, including high intensity lighting.

Police have carried out forensic examinations and house-to-house enquiries, as part of an on-going investigation.

Sergeant Phil Matthews said:

"This discovery shows how important it is for public to report any signs of suspicious activity.

"On this occasion we were called to reports of a break-in and found a sophisticated cannabis grow, with around 300 plants in four rooms, many of which had already been cropped.

"I would urge anyone who knows the people behind this cannabis cultivation or spots any suspicious activity to call the police so we can deal with it immediately."

Anyone with information about this cannabis grow should call Nottinghamshire Police on 0300 300 9999 and ask for the Meadows Police Station.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
