One hundred and fifty thousand pounds worth of tractors have been recovered by police.
An astute Countryside Watch member spotted two nearly-new tractors parked at a disused farm building in Warboys.
After reporting their suspicions to police on May 14, two officers visited the site and carried out vehicle registration and chassis number checks.
Both John Deere tractors had been reported stolen in March (month) from a neighbouring county.
The tractors have now been taken to a recovery yard and will be returned to their rightful owner.
PC Simon Page, from the rural community action team, said:
"It is fantastic that this caller followed their gut instinct and reported their suspicions.
"They knew the farm building was no longer used and two almost-new tractors really stood out.
"I would ask other people in rural areas to be alert to suspicious behaviour or incidents.
"For example, it is highly unusual for a tractor to be driven around the county at 11 o'clock at night, unless it's harvest season, as farmers are usually in bed, ready for an early start.
"When this happened last month, an officer stopped the tractor and someone ran from the vehicle.
"They got away but the tractor, which had been stolen, was then returned to its owner."
