The incident happened around 6.15am on Friday 27th August in Nicolson Street.

The 30-year-old was walking past Blockbuster Video on South Clerk Street when a male appropached and attempted to engage her in conversation.

The woman then produced her phone, at which time she was pushed by the suspect, who then stole the phone and made off onto Rankeillor Street where he was lost to sight.

Police are now appealing for anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything suspicious to come forward.

  • 6ft 2ins to 6ft 3ins tall
  • slim athletic build
  • short black hair
  • a clean shaven face
