Statement from Sarah Laycock's parents Brenda and Chris:

"We are absolutely devastated.

"We would like to thank everyone who has sent messages, cards and flowers.

"We are grateful to the police, especially the family liaison officers for all their support.

"We ask that our privacy is respected."

The identities of the two people found dead at a property in Kirkby Avenue, Garforth, on Saturday, can now been formally confirmed as Sarah Laycock, aged 31, and her eight-year-old daughter Abigail Miller.

Police were called at around 4pm this afternoon (14/01) to reports of an assault at the Fairburn Ings nature reserve near Castleford.

Officers attended and following initial enquiries, a house search was subsequently conducted at an address on Kirkby Avenue in Garforth, Leeds.

A 31-year-old woman and an 8-year-old girl were found deceased at the property.

A 4-year-old girl was also located with minor injuries and transported to Leeds General Infirmary.

She was later discharged.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of Murder and Attempted Murder.

He is currently in police custody and enquiries remain ongoing.
