Hundreds of pounds' worth of pigeons have been stolen after a burglary at a Newcastle allotment.
Seventy pigeons were stolen from a loft in an allotment at Kenton Road in Newcastle, between 5pm on Saturday, October 29 and 12.30pm on Sunday, October 30.
Neighbourhood Inspector Julie Rana said:
"This theft is not only distressing for the owner but has caused a great financial loss and we're doing all we can to find the person or people responsible.
"I'd urge those involved in the pigeon world who have information to contact us, as well as those who may have been offered pigeons for sale.
"Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity around the allotments at Kenton Road should also get in touch as these thieves will have needed a vehicle to move the pigeons."
Anyone with information should contact Northumbria Police on 03456 043 043 ext 69191.
Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
