Offenders tried to steal cash by making a hole in the roof of a Post Office in south Manchester.

At around 5.50pm on Friday 12 November 2010, the store on Wilbraham Road, Chorlton Cum Hardy was broken into.

The offenders cut through the first floor roof leading to the ATM room, but were scared off when the alarm was activated.

Detective Constable Jane Naylor from West Didsbury CID said:

"These offenders went to great lengths to try to steal cash but fortunately the security at the Post Office meant they left empty handed.

"It is important that we find whoever is responsible for this burglary to make sure they cannot attempt anything like this again so I would appeal to anyone with information to contact police."

Anyone with any information is asked to call West Didsbury CID on 0161 856 6154.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
