Appeal after 11-year-old girl offered lift by stranger: Everest Drive, Somercotes

Police are appealing for witnesses after a girl was approached by a man in a car in Somercotes on Sunday June 19.

The incident happened at about 6.15pm on Everest Drive when a man in a blue car pulled alongside an 11-year-old girl and offered her a lift.

She screamed and ran to a friend who was nearby.

The man drove off.

The suspect is described as:

  • a tanned, white male
  • wearing sunglasses, a black hooded top, which was pulled up, and jeans

He was driving a small dark blue car, possibly a Vauxhall Tigra type car or similar, that had black roof bars.
