Police are appealing for the public's help to trace a man wanted in connection with a racially aggravated public order offence.
At about 10.45pm on 14 October 2011, a 16-year-old boy was at the Altrincham Interchange with friends when a man approached them.
He flicked a lit cigarette at the victim before shouting racist remarks to him.
The offender is described as:
He then walked off towards the tram station.
Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to identify.
Police Constable Phil McNulty, of the Altrincham Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:
"The offender has made appalling racist remarks towards the victim.
"I want to speak to the man in the CCTV image and would ask him to come forward, but if anyone else thinks they know who he is, please get in touch.
"GMP takes all matters of hate crime extremely seriously and I want to reassure the community that offences such as these are rare but when they do occur they will be investigating using the full force of the law."
Anyone with information is asked to call the Altrincham Neighbourhood Policing Team on 0161 856 7530.
