Appeal after youth subjected to abuse and threats: Bingley Railway Station

British Transport Police (BTP) is appealing for information relating to an incident which took place at Bingley Railway Station at around 20.00hrs on Saturday 20 September 2009.

A 20-year-old male had been out celebrating with friends when he was allegedly approached on Platform 1 by three youths who became aggressive and verbally abused him and his friends.

PC Carl Johnstone of BTP said:

"The youths became very aggressive; the victim was subjected to a torrent of threatening abuse by the group.

"One of the suspects threw a bottle at him which smashed nearby.

"The youths then followed the victim as he got onto the train and then banged on the door threatening to kill him.

"One of the suspects then threw a rock which smashed the train window".

PC Johnstone added:

"The youths then ran across the tracks to Platform 2 and fled the station.

"We are working to build a complete picture of what took place at the station.

"I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information about this incident to contact police."

The first suspect is described as:

  • aged 16 to 19-years-old
  • 5ft 9in
  • thin build
  • short blonde curly hair
  • wearing a Chelsea Football Club T-shirt with MYERS and Number 13 on the back, black Adidas tracksuit bottoms and white trainers

The second suspect is described as:

  • aged 16 to 19-years-old
  • 5ft 4in
  • stocky build
  • short black hair
  • spotty complexion on his right cheek
  • wearing a white t-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms and a cream hooded top around his waist

The third suspect is described as:

  • aged 16 to 19-years-old
  • 5ft 8in
  • broad build
  • cropped hair
  • round face
  • wearing a black baseball cap, a black jacket with pattern on the chest and black tracksuit bottoms

"We are particularly interested in tracing a group of males who were on Platform 1 after the train had departed who may be able to provide vital information".
