Appeal following suspicious death of dog: Kinmylies

Police in Inverness are carrying out inquiries into the death of a dog which was found in the Kinmylies area of Inverness on 4 November 2011.

Initial inquiries suggest the dog did not die of natural causes and officers are now trying to locate two men seen in the vicinity of where the animal was found.

Two men were seen walking from the bottom of Assynt Road to a wooded area and a path that connects Assynt Road to the canal at approx 1300 on 4 November 2011.

The first man is described as:

  • white
  • aged 35 to 45
  • 5ft 10in tall
  • medium build
  • bald
  • wearing a blue t-shirt

The second man is described as:

  • white
  • aged 35 to 45
  • 5ft 10in tall
  • medium build
  • shoulder length hair tied back in a pony tail
  • wearing a black jacket

Following reports received by Police from members of the public officers attended and recovered the body of a bull terrier type dog from the wooded area.

A post mortem has been carried out on the animal and Police are working with their partners at the SSPCA.

Police are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
