Police in Trafford have asked owners of business premises to be on their guard after a gang of robbers threatened staff and customers.
At about 10.30pm last night, Friday 11 March 2011, three masked men entered the Bowling Club on Willow Tree Road, Bowdon.
One of them wielded a machete and ordered staff and customers, many of which were elderly, to lie on the floor.
He then held it to the back of one of the customers and demanded the safe.
He was told there is no safe so the robbers stole money and personal items from staff and customers.
They also stole a quantity of cash from the till before leaving.
No-one was physically hurt in the ordeal, but everyone was left shocked by what happened.

Detective Constable Emma Bushell, of Stretford CID said:
"Thankfully no-one was injured, but that will be of little consolation to those victims caught up in this nasty incident.
"I want to issue a general plea to businesses in the area to be on their guard, but at the same time reassure them that we are following up several leads and are determined to bring these criminals to justice."
