York police are appealing for the public's help to identify a man who is suspected of stealing cigarettes from a local shop.
At around 8.45pm on 13 November 2011, the suspect entered the Goldmine Store on Goodramgate carrying a four-pack of beer. He approached the counter and asked for 10 Lambert and Butler.
The shop assistant put the cigarettes on the counter and, after pretending to search his pockets for money, the suspect picked them up and left without paying, in the direction of Monkgate.
Officers have obtained an image of the suspect from the shop's CCTV footage and are urging the public to help locate him.
The offender is described as:
PC Julie Hitchcock, of York Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:
"I am hoping that someone will recognise the man from the image and let us know who is.
"Theft cannot be tolerated and if you know the suspect please contact the police or Crimestoppers with information."
