Civil Nuclear Constabulary officer discovers stolen boat supports burning on beach: Sizewell Gap

Police are appealing for information after two wooden supports were taken from under a boat on the beach at Sizewell Gap, moved a short distance along the sands and then set alight using fuel stolen from a metal container on the beach between 3pm yesterday, Monday 16, and 2.30am this morning, Tuesday 17 August.

The fire was spotted by a Civil Nuclear Constabulary officer around 2.30am this morning and a figure was seen fleeing along the beach towards Thorpeness.

It was found the supports had been set on fire using boat fuel that had been taken from a container there.

Anyone with information about the theft of the wooden supports or the fuel or the person or persons responsible should call PC 1567 Alder on 01986 835300.
