Jewellers, dealers and residents are being urged to be on the lookout for a collection of antique jewellery following a burglary in Tempsford.

The offence happened between 11am and 4pm on Sunday, November 8 when offenders forced a ground floor side window of to a property in Station Road.

The owners returned to find the offenders had made an untidy search before making off with jewellery.

Stolen items include:

  • An 18ct rose gold antique heavy locket, circular, fine engraving, heavy linked chain with dog catch
  • A 9ct yellow gold antique large cross, fine engraving, diamond in centre, long medium link chain
  • A 9 ct rose gold antique medium locket, fine engraving with name engraved on the front and date 18.3.61 engraved on the back, medium length chain with long hollow links
  • 9ct yellow gold antique 'gipsy' ring, fine engraving, 3 diamonds embedded in band
  • 9ct rose gold antique ring, round black stone possibly onyx
  • 1950s ladies wristwatch, art deco style, small square face, markosite surround, strap - 2 thin black cords, silver sliding clasp

DC Michelle Sears, of Dunstable CID, is keen to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious around the property, any unfamiliar vehicles in the area or the offenders making off, possibly towards the A1.

She said:

"It is very likely the offenders will now try to sell this property on and we would urge residents and those in the trade to contact us if they are offered property they believe is stolen."

The appeal comes just days after police, as part of their Safer Homes campaign, urged the public to help them in the fight against handlers of stolen property in the run up to Christmas by reporting their suspicions.

Anyone with information can contact DC Sears, in confidence, on 01582 473195, the main switchboard on 01234 841212.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
