Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after approximately £1,000 worth of tools were stolen from a building site in Barrow.

Between midnight and 7am on the 4th July 2011, offenders gained entry to the building site on Mill Lane, Barrow where a primary school is being built and stole a large locked metal toolbox with tools inside.

The toolbox was red in colour with the word ‘Maitlands' sprayed on the side.

All the tools were hand tools and have the initials ‘KR' engraved upon them.

These included two specialist glass installation tools - each one has 3 suction pads on it and are also engraved with the letters ‘KR'.

The box would have been too heavy for one person to carry which leads police to believe that 3 or 4 people may have been involved.

The perimeter fence on Cote Leys Lane was found insecure and it is believed the offenders entered and left the site via this point.

Any witnesses or anyone with information, or who may have been offered these tools for sale under suspicious circumstances, are urged to get in touch with Detective Sergeant Paul Yates on 0845 33 00 247.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
