Detectives are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary at a house on The Diamond Road in Crumlin this morning (Wednesday, 30th November).

It's understood three males smashed their way into the house via a large front window at around 3am.

They tied up and blindfolded the only male occupant before assaulting him.

He was beaten numerous times around the head and feet with a hurley bat while the intruders demanded money and other valuables.

It's understood the men remained in the house for over two hours before ransacking the property and making their escape empty handed.

The householder was able to raise the alarm at around 6.30am.

He has since been taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries.

Detectives are keen to hear from anyone with information regarding this crime.

They would especially like to speak to anyone who noticed any suspicious vehicles or people in the vicinity of the Diamond crossroads during the early hours of this morning.
