AT 0330 on Monday 6 April 2009 Police were called to Mallaig harbour following a report that a man had been found in the water.

Police and Ambulance attended and assisted by the local lifeboat crew the man was taken to the Belford Hospital in Fort William for treatment, however, despite efforts he was pronounced dead at 0630.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish how he came to be in the water and anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area of Mallaig harbour in the early hours of Monday is urged to contact Police at Fort William on 01397 702361.
