Police in Preston are appealing for information after a man punctured the tyre of a mini bus while it sat at traffic lights in Ashton.

At approximately 4.40pm on Tuesday 4th May 2010, a mini bus was stationery at the junction with Blackpool Road and Pedders lane in Ashton, Preston.

A man approached the bus carrying what appeared to be a four inch knife and knocked on a window.

He then said something and proceeded to puncture one of the tyres with the knife.

The man then walked off talking on a mobile telephone.

The offender is described as:

  • a white male
  • aged in his 40's
  • collar length light brown untidy hair
  • wearing jeans and a cream / dirty white short sleeved T shirt
  • with beads around his neck

DI McKenna from Preston CID said:

"I am obviously concerned that this man has approached the bus carrying a knife.

His behaviour is peculiar and I would appeal to anyone who recognises him from the description or who saw him in the area around the time of the incident to contact the police."
