Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery, which occurred in the early hours of this morning (Thursday 26 January), at approximately 4.30am at the Co-op store in Kingsway.
Three offenders entered the store and stole a quantity of cash, scratch cards and cigarettes.
There was a male and a female employee within the store at the time.
A minor altercation occurred between the male employee and one of the offenders, however the employee was not seriously injured.
The shutters to the store were partway closed, although the store was not locked at the time.
It is believed that the offenders may have been in possession of a screwdriver.
The offenders are described as male and wearing face coverings.
There are currently no details of any vehicles that may have been used.
Chief Inspector Gary Ashton, Territorial Commander, said:
"At this stage we do not believe that this incident is connected to a separate attempt robbery in Rushden late last week.
"Detectives are working meticulously in investigating these incidents, and we are confident that those responsible will be arrested.
"We would like to reassure local people that isolated cases like this are rare and thank-fully in both cases no-one was seriously injured.
"We would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything or has any information to come forward."
Witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information, should call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
