Men armed with meat cleaver assault and rob mother and daughter in their home, e-fit: Sale

The robbery happened at a house on The Avenue, Sale, at about 6.30pm on 3 January 2012.

A gang of three men came in through the front door and confronted the 18-year-old in the hallway.

The young girl was grabbed around the throat by one of the men who was also brandishing a meat cleaver above his head.

The girl's mother then came into the hallway and both women were forced upstairs where the offenders ransacked a number of rooms while demanding cash and jewellery.

The offenders left the house, getting into a dark-coloured car that was waiting outside and then drove off towards the A56.

One offender is described as:

  • a white male
  • skinny build
  • 5ft 9in tall
  • aged 20
  • fair hair
  • pale complexion
  • bright blue eyes
  • wearing a blue or grey hooded-top with the zip up and a grey piece of material covering the bottom of his face

Police have now released an e-fit of this man.

Police are now appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

Police Constable Martin Hill, from Trafford Volume Crime Team, said:

"Thankfully and more importantly, no-one was physically injured.

"However, the mother and daughter are understandably extremely upset after their ordeal.

"Working with our forensic imaging specialists, they have been brave enough to relive what they went through and produced an e-fit of the man brandishing the meat cleaver.

"I want people to look closely at this image and if you recognise him then it is absolutely vital we hear from you.

"We simply cannot allow innocent members of our communities to be frightened and threatened in this way and we will pursue every possible avenue to identify the culprits.

"I would again urge anyone with information that could assist us to come forward."

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 7521.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
