Detectives appealing for information and witnesses after a murder in Holloway have now named the victim.
Although next of kin have yet to be traced, we are satisfied the deceased is John Duncan MacRae, aged 55 (4.12.53) of 511 Caledonian Road, N7.
Police were called by the ambulance service at 18:24 on Wednesday 15 July to reports of a man stabbed at the address in Caledonian Road.
The victim died at the scene.
A post-mortem examination on 17 July gave cause of death as a single stab wound to the chest.
An incident room has opened under DI Andy Chalmers at the Homicide and Serious Crime Command.
He said:
"We want to speak with anyone who was in the vicinity of Caledonian Road or Cardozo Road at the time of the murder, which is believed to have taken place between 18:00 and 18:30.
"You may have seen someone acting suspiciously at the time. If so, please call our incident room."
It is believed the victim died following a confrontation in the communal area of the address in Caledonian Road.
Mr MacRae is thought to originate from the Isle of Lewis area of Scotland.
Any witnesses or anyone with information - or who knows the victim - is asked to call the incident room on 020 8358 0200.
