A family were woken up by the smell and sound of petrol being poured through their letter box on Saturday, 16 October.

Police were called to the address in The Forge, Southwater, Horsham just after 11.30pm.

Detective Constable Barry Collyer said:

"This was a callous act and could have ended with serious consequences.

"The house was occupied at the time by a family with six young children inside.

"I would urge anyone to come forward who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time or has any information that could help with our enquiries."
