Police are investigating after birds were stolen from a pet farm in Newcastle.

It happened at Pets Corner, a community facility in Jesmond Dene between 11am on Wednesday November 30, and 11.20am on Thursday December 1.

Offenders broke in and stole three pheasants from one of the large bird cages.

The pheasants were all male 'golden pheasants' worth around £80.

The damage caused to the petting zoo amounts to hundreds of pounds.

One of the birds has since been recovered.
