Officers investigating two incidents in Wythenshawe have released an E-fit of a man they want to trace.
At 11.20am on Tuesday 12 October 2010, a man went into the back garden of a house on Gibbon Avenue and walked into the house.
He picked up a seven-month-old baby from a trolley in the lounge, the child's 26-year-old mother jumped up, threatened to call police and grabbed her baby back off him.
At about 11.15am on Tuesday 7 December 2010, the same woman was pushing her baby along Robinswood Road in a pram when the same man pulled up alongside her in a van.
He threatened to take the baby if she did not get in the van so she did and got out again after he drove a short distance.
The mother and baby were not hurt in either of the incidents.
The man is described as:
Detective Constable Lucy Barnes, based at South Manchester CID, said:
"While no one has been hurt in either of these incidents, this young mum was understandably upset.
"People can be reassured that we are doing everything possible to find this man and discover just why he acted in this way towards her.
"We have had no other reports about this man from anyone else in the community.
"If you recognise something in this image we have worked with the victim to create, please contact me."
