Police seek graffiti vandals after attacks on rail stations, CCTV issued: Derby/Loughborough

British Transport Police (BTP) is hunting a group of youths who daubed 8ft high graffiti over Derby railway station.

Officers have today released CCTV of one of the youths they would like to speak to in connection with the incident which took place around 18.00 on Saturday 26 November 2011.

Police were called to platform six after a member of station staff reported that 8ft letters in blue paint had been daubed across the platform and toilet wall, soap dispensers in the toilet were also damaged.

Police also discovered the same letters painted on the walls of the gents toilets at Loughbrough station a short while after receiving the initial report at Derby.

Investigating officer PC Paul Wilson, of British Transport Police, said:

"This was a deliberate act of vandalism that caused unnecessary damage in a busy public place.

"The man pictured is believed to have been part of a larger group of approximately five youths who police would also like to trace.

"Criminal damage such as this will not be tolerated on the rail network and we will do all we can to catch those responsible and bring them to justice.

"I'd urge anyone who may recognise the man pictured or have any information in relation to the group who he may have been with - to come forward and help this investigation."

Andy Moore, Head of Stations for East Midlands Trains, said:

"This is particularly frustrating as we have recently invested money to improve the toilets for passengers at Derby and Loughborough.

"This kind of deliberate vandalism causes unnecessary inconvenience to our passengers and means that money which could be invested on further improvements has to be spent on fixing the damage caused.

"We will do everything we can to help BTP find the perpetrators."
