A Cannabis factory was uncovered by police in a Blackpool industrial unit yesterday evening (Wednesday 24 February).

Police officers made the discovery at the unit on Back Ashburton Road just after 6pm following intelligence which suggested that drug related activity was taking place.

63 plants were discovered in the unit, concealed within a room on the first floor.

Lighting and cultivation equipment was also found in the building.

PC Sarah Muncaster, Community Beat Manager for Claremont ward, said:

"This discovery demonstrates our efforts to reduce drug related activity in Blackpool.

"Intelligence from the community led us to this cannabis factory and this highlights the importance of residents working with us to help tackle this problem.

"We will continue to take robust action against those who are thought to be involved in drugs and urge the public to continue to pass any suspicions on to the police."

No arrests have been made but a police investigation is underway.

Anyone with information about drug related activity should contact the police on 0845 1 25 35 45.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
