A reward of £10,000 has been made available after a paving slab was thrown through the window of a moving train.
The incident happened on Sunday, 7th June, when a DB Schenker freight train was travelling through Weaverham, near Northwich, Cheshire.
Officers from BTP have since conducted extensive enquiries, but have so far been unable to locate those responsible.
Now, in a bid to gain fresh information, DB Schenker has offered a reward of £10,000 to anyone who provides information which leads to a conviction.
Detective Chief Inspector Malcolm McKinnon said:
"We have had officers working around the clock investigating this case, but it has proved problematic as the location of the offence, a public footpath running through farmland, is extremely rural.
"However I am convinced that the offender will be known to someone and possibly may have boasted about his or her actions.
"I am appealing to the conscience of anyone with information about this incident.
"When the paving slab struck the train it shattered the driver's window which collapsed into the cab and pinned the driver to the seat.
"He was also showered with broken glass which caused cuts to his face and hands.
"Clearly this was extremely serious, but it is through good fortune that we are not now dealing with an incident which had fatal consequences.
"If you know who is responsible, or have information you think might assist the investigation, please come forward and speak to us - the driver in this case is making a good recovery, the next may not be as fortunate."
