Reward offered as armed man robs betting shop, CCTV issued: Perth

Tayside Police has released CCTV images taken during an armed robbery at a Perth betting shop in February of this year in the hope of tracing the person responsible for the crime.

A man went into Ladbrokes Leonard Street premises at about 9.40pm on Thursday, February 19 and, after threatening two members of staff with a knife, made off with a four-figure sum of cash.

He then ran off across Leonard Street and into an alleyway at the rear of the Hong Kong Chip Shop towards a public car park.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect is described as:

  • about five feet eight inches tall
  • blue eyes
  • wearing a black jacket over a blue and white hooded top worn with the hood up, blue jeans and white trainers his face was covered with a black balaclava-style mask

The Association of British Bookmakers is offering a £10,000 reward for information that leads to a conviction in relation to this crime.

Detective Constable Mike Reilly said the investigation has progressed since February, but the enquiry team hoped that the release of the CCTV image would help to obtain vital evidence. He said:

‘‘The CCTV image taken from Ladbrokes clearly shows what this person was wearing on the night in question. We hope it will help to jog people's memories.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area on Thursday, February 19 and who saw someone matching this description to contact us immediately on 0300 111 2222.''
