Police in Gloucester are appealing for information after a man tried to rob a motorist as he sat in his car at traffic lights.
The incident happened at the Merlin Drive/Bristol Road traffic lights in Quedgeley at around 10.15pm on Sunday, June 12.
The victim, an 18-year-old man from Gloucester, was seated in his blue Renault Clio, which had stopped at the lights, when a man approached him and peered into the passenger window.
The man then walked around the front of the car and looked into the driver's window, prompting the victim to wind the window down.
The man told him he was going to take the car and tried the locked door handle.
He then punched the victim in the face.
The victim drove off, having sustained significant bruising and swelling to the right eye.
The offender is described as:
- a black male
- aged 25 to 30
- 5ft 10ins tall
- stocky build
- very short/shaved black hair
- wearing white Air Max trainers, grey jogging bottoms, a navy blue Adidas jacket with red piping on the sleeves, with a black top underneath
The offender had been walking along the pavement from Cole Avenue just prior to the incident.
