Rowdy men barred from travelling on train, CCTV issued: Truro rail station

British Transport Police (BTP) officers have released an image of a group of men they want to identify in connection with an incident at Truro railway station.

Officers believe the men in these CCTV images will have information which can assist their investigation into the incident which caused a train to apply its emergency brakes, and left rail staff shaken.

PC Bob Edwards, investigating officer, said the incident took place at around 11.10pm on Thursday, 22 December 2011.

"A group of four men, who appeared to be in drink, entered Truro rail station at around 11.10pm.

"As the 1806hrs London Paddington to Penzance service was pulling into platform 2 at the station, one of the group was extremely close to the platform edge and fell against the side of the train, causing the train driver to apply the emergency brakes.

"This was an extremely foolish act as the man could easily have slipped or fallen between the platform edge and train, resulting in serious injury to him.

"As a result of the incident, the train manager refused to let the group travel on the train and the group of men then became verbally abusive towards members of rail staff at Truro who were left shaken by the events."

The men are then understood to have left the station and caught a taxi to Redruth.

PC Edwards added:

"After viewing CCTV images from Truro station, I would like to identify and speak to the men in these photographs as I believe they will be able to help us with our enquiries."
