Gardaí in Lucan are investigating a shooting incident which occurred at approximately 1pm today - 22/2/09 at the Garda Sports and Leisure Centre at  Westmanstown, Dublin 15.

One man in his mid 30's has been brought to hospital, having been shot a number of times as he sat in his car.

The lone gunman also in his mid 30's was disarmed and arrested by off-duty Gardai at the scene. 

Two firearms were also recovered at the scene.

The arrested man is currently being detained in Lucan Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

The scene is currently being preserved.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have any information to contact the incident room at Lucan Garda Station on 01-6667300.
