Officers have launched a murder enquiry following the death of a man at an address in Hayes in the early hours of 30 August 2009.

We were called at about 03:00 hours to a residential address in Hyde Way, Hayes following reports of a man stabbed.

On arrival officers discovered a man aged in his early twenties suffering from a stab wound.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe that they know the man's identity and are in the process of informing next of kin.

A post mortem examination took place at Hillingdon Mortuary and cause of death was established as a single stab wound to the heart.

There have been no arrests and we are keeping an open mind re motive at this early stage.

An incident room has opened at Barnes under Detective Chief Inspector Howard Groves from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command (HSCC).
