Officers from Rutland local policing unit are appealing for public help after a garden ornament of sentimental value was stolen from Greetham.

The incident took place sometime between 5pm on Monday May 30 and 7am on Tuesday May 31 in Main Street.

The two foot high grey concrete or stone statue of a mermaid was stolen from the garden of a home, the ornament also comes with all the wiring you would need to attach it to a pump.

PC Paul Anderson is investigating the incidents, he said:

"The garden ornament has been with the family for many years and is of great sentimental value to them.

"We would urge anyone who knows the whereabouts of the ornament or the bird table to contact us."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 1921 Paul Anderson on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 1921.
