Police investigating three sexual assaults have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incidents.

At 6pm on Saturday 2 November 2010, a 24-year-old woman was on the 142 bus service from Piccadilly to Didsbury.

A man got on the bus on Oxford Road, sat next to the woman and put his coat on her lap.

He touched her knee so she tried to move away.

He did it a second and third time and tried to move his hand up her thigh so she challenged him.

The same woman was on another 142 service at about 6.50pm on Tuesday 16 November 2010 when the same man got on and touched her leg again.

She got up and went to tell the driver so the man got up and got off the bus.

On Monday 4 November 2010, another 24-year-old woman was on the 143 bus from south Manchester into the city centre.

A man got on the bus on Oxford Road, sat next to the woman and put his coat on her lap.

He put his hand on her thigh and took away his coat.

She looked down on realising his hand was on her thigh and when he noticed she was aware, he took his hand away, got up and got off the bus at the next stop.

The offender is described as:

  • a white male
  • aged 50 to 60
  • 5ft 7in to 6ft tall
  • slim build

Police Constable Lee Rowbottom, based at Didsbury Police Station, said:

"This has been a horrible experience for both women, who would just like to be able to use the bus and be left in peace while on their journey.

"We're determined to catch the person responsible so he doesn't upset anyone else in this way.

"I'd ask people to take a good look at this image and if you know who this man is or have seen him, please contact us."

Anyone with information is asked to call police in Didsbury on 0161 856 4973.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
