Detectives in Newcastle have released CCTV images of three men they want to trace in connection with a serious assault in the the city centre at around 1am on Thursday 29 December.

The man, aged 25, sustained a broken jaw and received treatment at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

He is now recovering at home.

The incident began inside Brassingtons in High Street and continued in the street outside. Detectives are keen to trace three men who are believed to have been involved in the incident.

They are described as:

  • white males
  • aged early 20's

One offender is described as:

  • tanned
  • 5ft 10ins to 5ft 11ins tall
  • medium build
  • dark brown, shaggy, Oasis-style hair

Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw or heard anything suspicious is urged to contact DC Mick Smith at Staffordshire Police on 101.
